For quick edits in the terminal? Sure.

As my main IDE? No way. I’m too used to GUI IDEs like VSCodium and PyCharm.

I just find it easier to navigate with a mouse. With just keyboard, I find I overshoot the block of code I’m looking for, whereas scroll wheel gives me more control.

I’m sure removing the root user will prevent all escalation exploits. Can’t get root if there is no root!

I don’t need the AUR directly, a GUI, or other managers. Just what came with my system + chaotic works just fine.

I think the main problem lies in the community.

Not everyone, but a few vocal rotten apples are hostile to new users who either:

1. Don’t already know the answer to their own question

2. Are not using their distro

3. Didn’t immediately read the wiki entry for their exact problem

This kind of gatekeeping is why some people are put off of Linux and the community as a whole. Just because someone asks a question you think is obvious, doesn’t mean it’s obvious to them.

The only thing I miss is paint.net.

• Newer versions don’t run in WINE.
• Pinta, a fork of paint.net, is old and is missing many features of modern paint.net.
• Some alternatives, like Krita, are more for drawing, whereas I use paint.net for image editing.
• GIMP lacks a shape tool.

So far, Linux has been great for me for most common apps, however there are a few niche apps that don’t run natively on Linux and are borked under wine.

paint.net is the main issue currently as the devs have stated they won’t make any other ports, and the latest versions have a “Garbage” rating on WineHQ. There is Pinta, which is based off an older version, but it’s not good enough for my use cases.

So, for the time being, I’m stuck with using a Win10 VM with a shared folder to use paint.net.

(And before anyone asks: No, GIMP will not work for me. It lacks the tools and plugins I use frequently with paint.net)

For ZSH, I have a script that automatically installs oh-my-zsh and a bunch of zsh plugins, and changes my default shell to ZSH.

For everything else, some files will just get copied over, others left behind. I only “manage” them when I need to view/edit them.

Go in the room, smash the lightbulb. There, now it’s none of the switches.

I think I’ll pass this interview no problem.

GIMP is still missing a way to draw a circle without some convoluted method. It won’t work for my needs currently.

Paint.net for Linux. Most of my experience with making art digitally came from paint.net and there’s not really a good alternative that doesn’t require me to recreate my workflow from the ground up (Krita).

Pinta is technically an option, but it’s missing many of the features that modern paint.net has.

For now, I have to make do with a VM to run it.

I like the snoopy wallpaper as well. I’m glad your parents seem to enjoy it (the wallpaper and the computer lol).

Also, why is there a toothbrush on the right?

I mainly use Kleopatra with a dedicated passphrase for it.
