I’ve watched Linus some 10 years ago and it always seemed like he’s more of a face and a presenter and has others do research and tell him what to do. They give him some minimum info and let him go and make content. He knows more than the average person and apparently that’s enough to make content.
I wish he took it more seriously. He has a huge platform and can reach a lot of people and he often rather uses it for his own enrichment instead shining a light.

I wish that wasn’t a video, but a website with everything explained on one page. We used to host things damnit! /end rant
I’m not from mac land, so I don’t know how much Preview does. I’ll comment on how its done in PC land.
- PDF’s have been handled by web browsers for a while now. Firefox will open and offer basic editing capabilities. Comes pre-installed on most distros.
- Images are handled by the DE’s default image previewer which usually has rudimentary editing capabilities. Installed by default.
Or you can get other apps that handle PDF’s and images.
Switching to linux means switching to other applications. You aren’t getting Preview and you aren’t getting Safari. You get other software that does the same things.
I dislike any browser which blocks content (such as ads) by default. It may sound silly, but Imo, that’s not what a browser should be doing. It’s job is to act as an HTTP client, render HTML and do caching, storage and all the management which goes with it and offer any tools to tinker with it.
The meaning of the content displayed should be of no concern to the browser as it is subjective.
I will install an addon to deal with unwanted content as I see fit. Firefox is getting kinda bloated with all the things which come with it (pocket, accounts, default bookmarks…), but I can live with that.

3·4 months agonouveau? Switch between drivers if you wanna use HDMI 2.1 or proprietary nvidia when you wanna game! It won’t make any sense, but it will piss off the right people :D

I have a theory that if everything was pixel perfect, centered, perfectly aligned and looked the same, the thing would look too sterile. There’s basically a perfect world, written down in books and texts that is being taught to students and there’s the real world. In many areas, these two do not match and the above image is the result of someone’s text book world view not matching the real world.
Could the discover store have a better UI? Yes. Will a centered, down-anchored, pixel perfect button make it better? Subjective.

I agree. Just need a table of even numbers. Oh and a table of odd numbers, of course, else you cant return the false… duh.
Imo too high power consumption for 24/7 operation so I wouldn’t use it that way. If I only had this machine to work with, i’d probably use it as a media server or NAS but turn it on only as needed. Wake on LAN to turn it on and configure it to auto turn off.

I don’t think the point of Linux is to tinker. That would kinda make it for tinkerers only. In my view, the point of Linux is that its a kernel only and you can use it to build an OS around and build one which is easy to tinker with or one which isn’t. Point is, not every system is suited for every task and the Linux kernel allows you to use it how you wish (via distros or you can make your own system around it). Why the gatekeeping?
I dont mind Python, in fact I kind of like it. Its easy enough, works fast enough and has a huge community backing. Open up notepad and start typing. The space thing is kinda stupid. I prefer braces and semicolons but apparently new programmers cant remember to use them so Python just got rid of them… not my thing but whatever, I can live with it.
However, I’d never really want to create a large project in it. The dev tools arent there, .net style project management isnt there. I can see how it just becomes a mess if you try to make something that isnt just downloading some data, parsing and importing to somewhere else. Its great for simple stuff. It can do larger stuff - though not as good. It cant do enterprise, performance heavy, commercial stuff.
Pick the right tool. Yeah you can make a website in x86 ASM and you can make embeded systems for the space shuttle in Python. The question is why.
Looks like this is just for storing the data (birth date). Distros can use it and do age restriction or ignore it. Not a big deal imo. Its not like systemd does anything more with the date.
