  • Currently I still find it too much of a hastle to correctly run Winblows applications, almost always relying on Lutris, Steams proton or Bottles to do the work for me.

That’s…uhhh… that’s why they were made? So that your average Joe Schmoe, like myself and you, doesn’t have to muddle through trying to get wine set exactly right so that the windows program functions. It sounds like you’re complaining about the solution to the problem.
I guess there could be work done to just make it so if you double click on a .exe install file in just boots whatever has the best install preset, or give you a pop up with options for lutris/proton/bottles.

  • I wasn’t bashing it. I actually honestly believe that the person ripping me for using Nobara and having the SP4 as a toy meant what they said about uBlue based distros were better than Nobara, especially since Nobara is built and maintained by one guy.
Again not casting shade. If I can figure out the issue I’m having with it, or give up, I’ll be putting one of the ones you just mentioned on mine and taking it for a spin.

  • I have a Surface Pro 4, was running Nobara, but I’m trying to troubleshoot a weird issue with it. When I was talking about Nobara in a different post a month or so ago, a neckbeard essentially called me an idiot for using Nobara, and said I should use a UBlue variant. I’ve not used it, but it comes highly recommended by the guy who thought it was weird that I’d buy an old not entirely reliable piece of hardware to just have as essentially a toy…so there’s that.
Surface kernel can be added onto most distros. So if the offerings with it preinstalled don’t suit your fancy there’s instructions on the Surface kernel site.

  • Just Edinburgh planning are fickle. We got someone on the wrong day, and they decided, fuck these guys in particular. They are notorious for things like stringing an application along for 5 years for no good reason. We’re requesting a formal rejection, a decision was supposed to have been made in January, so we can take it to appeals. Thankfully since we’re in a listed building the appeal goes directly to the office of a minister and not back to Edinburgh Council planning.
