I come from reddit which is an extremely toxic place with all those mods abusing their power banning everyone almost for no reason, I hope this site gets obsolete once and for all

Linux@lemmy.ml•Super slow old Samsung laptop, needs Light weight distro, for SNES games mebbe?
2·18 days agoI don’t know about your processor but I think your memory can handle SNES games just fine, you need only one emulator and that is Retroarch, after install you open it with sudo and you can install cores for anything, from Sega Genesis to Mame, SNES, Ps1, psp, dreamcast etc, it’s one of the best

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why gpu acceleration suddenly stops working for flatpak apps?
11·18 days agoThat’s the main reason I created desktop launchers that use Nvidia together with the program no matter if it’s needed or not, maybe you should try it

Linux@lemmy.ml•Debian with NVIDIA on a laptop that had been sitting in the closet for years
1·19 days agoI had big issues on Dell gaming laptop and Nvidia drivers in Lubuntu, after updating the drivers I got log in freezes, so after second reinstall of the OS I disabled acpi on start up, it boots slower but works just fine, I never understood why Nvidia neglects Linux so much

Linux@lemmy.ml•[Discussion] My thoughts about the usability of Linux
1·19 days agoI switched to Linux because of Blender and because the program behaves way better on its native OS, so practically speaking if you don’t have any serious reason to switch to it then don’t do it, I know Windows 11 is not very good, no problem go back in windows 10, many people ask about switching on Linux as if they really have to!
I m stuck with Lubuntu for more than 10 years now, they do the job for me and I m good,
what I will always love about them is that I can customise them to be exactly how they functioned and looked the first time I used them and that’s all I want from an OS, I don’t want extremely drastic changes on my OS I don’t get impressed much by that, but low usage of resources is enough, my mentality with computers is if it’s not broken no reason to fix it

219·1 year agoMan seriously aren’t you happy with the 2% of users that use Linux right now?, I m telling you for certain, if Linux bites a larger piece of that pie Microsoft is munching for decades, their coders will unleash an influx of any kind of viruses to show how “shitty” Linux are, I really feel safe to be on that 2%, let people find their own way.
