Uh, FreshRSS coupled with Wallabag? Or Nextcloud?
Aside what the other poster said, which I agree with, I think there is also an increasing dislike of Google in general, that may be feeding the undercurrent of the hate you see.
Or eating random, wild mushrooms.
Truthfully, if people are stupid enough to buy into this hype they sort of deserve it as much as the morons who run those companies. Buyer beware and all that jazz.
We all know the meme of the Smart-BBQ that refuses to BBQ because of a failed update via wifi. If people are walking away from having a simple metal pit to amber some meat on it, then we are failing as a species. More vectors of failure just means more vectors of failure. Use KISS whenever possible. Don’t fall for the ‘for your convenience’ trap. How ridiculous that, if true, they cannot flush a toilet that literally works on gravity.
No idea who would buy this. By definition networks will fail at some point. Same aslt avoiding subscription models as much as possible.
You don’t, neither do I. why the hell are they pushing this?
It the jingling of the keys that may sound good to some investors?
Was in the market for a new phone and was thinking of getting the latest Pine phone, and upon research, I found that like others have stated, it is more of a piece of kit to tinker with and not a daily driver. The OS is still being baked and at the current rate it might take a few years before it is as responsive and as useful as Android is day in, and day out. There is just no contest. Which was a bit disappointing as I actually though the OS was far more developed.
I do hope that progress is made, but, if you need a phone that works well, then stick with Android for now. Hardware on latest Pine is better than on the first phone but still Mid, at best, and it is not cheap for the hardware you get.
Proudly, first thing I install on Termux.
HA. That made laugh out loud. Thanks.
I felt assaulted by that meme.

I do not use Google products or use FB or most social media and family looks at me as if I am from Mars. Some do not even know what Linux even is. If I installed it on their machine and didn’t tell them what it was, they would just think it is “another” Windows.
Once a non-tech guy asked how I find stuff if I did not use Google Search. Another thought that I used Terminal, not because I need it but because I wanted to look Retro.
To plenty computers or tech in general are not their thing.
Gradually? By 10’s launch, it was already adware/spyware. 11 is not even attempting to hide it, if you look at it objectively past the PR.
Hmm… How do you find it? If you do not mind me asking.
On my laptop, I update my bashrc on Excel, in Wine, then export it as a PDF, OCR to .md, Pandoc it to an .Org, and then finally, write it down on paper and re-type it on my phone’s Termux’s Emacs instance, then TRAMP it to my PC, in the other room.
I use biebian, btw.
Been curious to try. How is your RAM usage on it? Like that it uses runit. Like my systems to be minimalistic and with little bloat.
Ha. Was about to say the same. Running EasyOS on one ofy extra partitions for testing, and I end up using it as semi-daily driver often due to how light it is. Great on a USB key, too.
It is also somewhat unique, on top of other Puppy distros.
Arch is you know how to use Arch. If lazy then something like Bhodi or Q4OS. I put the latter on a couple of friend’s laptops who recently jumped from Windows. Since it is very Windows-like but it uses less than 400mb of RAM to run on a cold boot.
That is certainly what MS will claim within their TOS. Best solution when possible, is to not use Windows.
But… This is a good thing. I will take it. More FOSS awareness is great news. As long as it sticks.
