I haven’t had any changes reverted. It works more stable than windows. So much more stable that I’m noticing just how much bullshit I’ve put up with on windows 10.
A soup.

Mints fine, but if you are looking for stability, gaming, and you don’t care too much for customization, I’d recommend Bazzite.
Bazzite has all gaming tweaks built in already (including device drivers) so things just work, you never have to use the command line unless you want to (I just had a BIOS update from the KDE Discover store where I get all my updates from).
I’ve always ran Ubuntu of some flavour in the past but would run into things eventually breaking or not working well. Coming up on the 2 year mark for Bazzite on my laptop.
You’re literally incorrect and have problems reading words directly in front of you. They literally say in their post that they are looking at immutable distros.
Log off if you’re unable to provide anything of value to this thread.
You are confidentially incorrect. I suggest you actually take the time to read the post again.
I honestly have even been looking into some of those immutable distros (that’s how much I don’t want to be fixing my system.
Bazzite
No most of my work is company IP and internal so I wouldn’t be able to provide a link.
It’s fantastic. I use it professionally. A lot of comments say it’s just for basic editing and I think they haven’t scratched the surface.
There are a lot of advanced effects like grading, time remapping, and motion tracking that simply are not basic effects. If you want basic, try out OpenShot. Kdenlive is a fucking gem. It’s replaced premiere for me.
You’re right! Your comment has added a tremendous amount of value to this thread.
Aaaaaand I drop VLC. Fucking shame.
Edit: “wtf i love ai now”- this thread
Hell yes object detection and background removal!!! No more chroma key!!!
Or you work in a field where national security is of any concern.
If your expert analysis of voting ratios has led you to conclude that I’m Russian, you might want to go back on your methodology and rethink it. Check my post history and really give it a thought haha.
That’s very interesting. There’s a widespread boycott of any product with Israeli ties due to what the Israeli government is doing in Gaza, yet what Russia is doing is even more clear cut but this doesn’t register as a problem for most people here.
It’s developed by a Russian owned company (Ascensio System SIA).
Firefox, Matrix chat, Proxmox, Homarr, Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Overseer, Nextcloud, Bazzite, Lemmy, QBittorent, Immich, Home Assistant, Keepass, Thunderbird, and Debian.
If it’s free, it is for me.
Maybe because your friend isn’t the average user (specifically when you mention they don’t like the package manager).
In Fedora silverblue on KDE, all updates are handled through the discovery store which is similar and as easy as on windows.
Disagree. If you are suggesting not to theme and keep things close to stock (because you rightly mention that things break) under the guise of stability, why would you suggest that no one use an immutable distro? They’re way more unbreakable than your standard Ubuntu install.
Second Bazzite. My use case is almost identical to OPs. Been using Bazzite for a while and I haven’t had a single issue. Everything works. Gaming is a breeze. Even works with my work dock with keyboard, mouse, webcam, and 2 1080p monitors attached. Plug n play.
Never had that experience on Linux before in my LIFE
You keep referencing your own personal tech adeptness as some sort of gotcha against what the study found. This is exactly what they say. People well-versed in tech greatly overestimate the general public’s tech abilities.
You are in your own bubble. Your kids are good at tech because YOU are good at tech. Just peruse through your posting history. You’re posting about hacker conferences and running local Joplin services. You are NOT the average tech consumer. Congratulations on being surrounded by like minded peers. You are not the average.
The findings of the study went absolutely over your head. You’re clearly very tied to your personal experience and cannot see outside of it so any more interaction or discussion would be a waste of both of our times. Take care.
Bazzite because I get an immutable install that won’t let me accidentally fuck it up. It just works. All necessary drivers for my dock and peripherals are already installed and configured. It’s the very first time in my decades long Linux excursion that I have a user experience that is similar to windows in that sense, but without the enshittifcation of windows.
I genuinely enjoy video editing, gaming, and surfing the web on my laptop when it’s running Bazzite.
