I finally switched when I moved from Arch to Fedora and it’s worked fantastically for me. This is where the Linux desktop is heading now for sure.

I think Memento is open source. It’s good for subtitles->Anki cards.

I always like to say the fruits of FOSS labour are the common heritage of mankind. It belongs to all of us as a public good, created and maintained by selfless workers. (Nevermind the fact that most FOSS projects are based out of Europe anyways).

A little worried that with swapping those components like that, it’s trying to be too many things for too many different groups of people instead of one exact thing.

I think all I really want is something shaped like this with a keyboard, like an old Blackberry that could be used as a terminal.

Damn this thread really makes me feel like a minority, but I prefer GNOME! It comes useful out of the box, sane defaults, easy to extend without ripping out the soul of how it functions. Best of all it has a new and interesting direction for the desktop UI rather than just copying Windows. It has some original ideas that really serve it well.

There needs to be a film about the FOSS movement that matches the vibes of 1995’s cyberspace masterpiece Hackers.

Definitely a long way off from how active they were a year or two ago.

Hey just so you know in many people’s minds SW doesn’t stand for software.

Fedora is what I’ve got on my Thinkpad right now and so far it seems pretty good! Silverblue is very intriguing to me but I chose not to go with it because I need to be able to modify aspects of how the lower system works (using JACK for audio for music production purposes; afaik this is not really supported through Flatpak). Compared to Arch or Nix OS or whatever else that’s popular with the hardcore Linux enthusiasts, Fedora is just right for someone that needs a working system to just get stuff done.
