I use Framework 13 with AMD for my Linux laptop, love it. I do not want to go back to any other brand.

Yeah, he didn’t share any information about the brand or vendor.
Some vendors also have multiple BIOS-es on the same GPU card (like one overclocked BIOS, and the other is a “normal” BIOS).
You could check if there is a physical switch to switch between modes on your GPU. And see if the other GPU BIOS is also behaving like this.
The reason why I would choose linux mint. Is the stability of the whole distro. It’s pretty solid. You can still upgrade kernels. Or even install mainline kernel tool if you wish.
Furthermore, Linux mint provide an easy tool to install drivers, in case you’re running a Nvidia card. And Mint is just basically Ubuntu under the hood, without the crap of Ubuntu. Meaning mint also support PPAs (personal package repositories). If you wish to get some updated package.
I run Linux Mint for years and years, I think you will be happy with it.
That is why you have KVMs…
@ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org You’re doing it wrong. Just setup a KVM behind your server. So then you never need to leave home again.
You’re welcome to join me.
and a good opportunity to raise funds.
This is what really matters I think, people should become more and more aware that yes Free software is great (I’m maintaining several open source projects myself). But all these contributors, including myself, are not or almost not funded, while many users /devs/server admins might use and depend upon your software.
If only 5% of the people who use the software in anyway would donate or sponsor these open source and free software projects, that would already be a huge win! Just know that a lot of developers are getting burned out.
yes, I definitely got a lot of flair 😜
Thank you so much! I mean I have a threadripper with 48 threads.
I’m actually busy setting up my own mail server. On my own infrastructure, using public static IPs etc. I’m done with all these other mail providers. I’m going back to the start.
Multiple good reasons actually:
Thanks! I didn’t knew about it. I just installed it. Love it.
Yes in this context it means “pathetic”. For people who were thinking I mean the other meaning of joke.
Nice! I do like my AMD Framework though. But anyhow, nice to see there is a RISC-V option as well. Especially for early birds, that is for sure.
what a joke.
I personally like the 13 inch format laptop, since I use it as a laptop.
Apart from that, everything else should just work fine out of the box under any modern Linux distro most likely. The only downside I had with my Framework 13 laptop is the sound quality, because the speakers are down firing. You might like that or not. But you can definitely live with it.
its a April’s fool joke yes.
