I’m mildly interested to test it once their from scratch reimplementation of the XMPP backend works. Maybe I can then finally stop screaming at people that still use Pidgin as an xmpp client despite it being at least 15 years out of date.

poVoq@slrpnk.netto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Is there an open source blogging platform like Medium or Substack I could publish to without self-hosting?8·6 months agoMovim actually predates the creation of ActivityPub (and its precursor protocols) and back then XMPP was the popular choice, even Twitter experimented with running their service on an XMPP backend. But despite its age, Movim has kept up with the times quite well (as did XMPP in general).

Runs the https://movim.eu/ open-source software.
Federates via XMPP.

poVoq@slrpnk.netto Linux@lemmy.ml•Is NixOS at the advent of an implosion? | Community inquiry on recent drama72·10 months agoFor you to understand: when you say “keep politics out of tech” that is an explicit political position and you are basically saying “politics for me, but not for you”. Or to put it in different terms: unspoken support for the status quo, is a deeply reactionary political position and you are trying to enforce this by “keeping politics out of tech”.

There is a special .iso archive for all past releases.
Systemd is very useful for managing (rootless) Podman containers.

Edit: ah, I should read the OP 🤦♂️
The point is rather that RISC-V is only open-specifications and most available chip designs are not open-source or only partially so in the open-hardware sense.
No one would claim that the Ethernet specifications are open-hardware, yet you see the same (false) claim for RISC-V all the time.
Yes, but open-specifications doesn’t mean open-hardware.
Lots of bugs in federated moderation…
There are lots of options depending in the level of complexity you need. On the more complex end of the spectrum there is for example: https://merginmaps.com/

These days selling the software itself is rarely successful nor a particularly good business model. Basically only computer games still work like that, and the commercially really successful ones not any more either.
That isn’t a problem, but a feature, see: https://opensource.net/why-single-vendor-is-the-new-proprietary/
This. Especially for drivers, always use the package manager of your distro and do not attempt to manually install Nvidia drivers you downloaded from their website.
