Guix vs Nix will be an interesting example. Nix has a way bigger user base right now but it has the whole Anduril & governance issue.
What is your experience with guix like? Does getting away from systemd affect things?

Nix or Guix would be the most integrated / low level implementation of something like this.
The whole OS and configuration is defined & can be synced, snapshotted, forked etc.

If you have systemd installed then using it is fine.
