Hello!
I contributed to OSM for a few days now. Yet, when i use OSM myself and zoom some city\village\area - i do not get how can i highlight for example recycling points or water points\wells, statues and etc etc.
There’s no option for highlight points of interest on map somehow?
Thanks
One of the options to query for specific types of points of interest on OSM is the web app OpenStreetBrowser.
OSM is just a geographical database. It by itself doesn’t have any user-facing features at all. If there are such features somewhere, they are features of a specific frontend to that database.
I don’t think there’s a way to do what you want directly on openstreetmap.org but you can achieve your goal with https://overpass-turbo.eu/ for example.
If you’re on Android or iOS, navigation apps like CoMaps (https://www.comaps.app/) can highlight POIs by categories.
Adding items or details to an object is pretty straightforward with an account in OSM. If I’m not mistaken, you submit your information and someone adds it to the database. This will probably take a day or two.
I don’t know what you mean by “highlight”. Maybe you want something added to your favourites list? Long press the object, add it to your favourites.
